Activities of the MRSI

MR Works!

The MRSI is heavily involved in furthering market research interests through a variety of events. The Annual Seminar MR WORKS! is a shining example of sharing research experience within and outside the industry to propagate community learning through a series of case studies / research papers. The Annual MR Symposium is an ongoing effort to disseminate and build awareness of powerful MR tools, which can provide guidance to many of the burning business issues prevalent today. Apart from this, the MRSI also has plans for basic training for research, field and analysis experts, which shall be available soon.

Essentially a coming together of market research enthusiasts and luminaries,
MR WORKS! is enjoying its 15th year of bringing a 360 degree perspective to the way MR is perceived in India. The erstwhile Annual Seminar, MR WORKS! brings the market research industry's best practices and case studies to a public forum, entailing presentations in a competitive format.

As it has built a considerable equity over the years, MR WORKS! attracts over two hundred people from the Marketing, Market Research and Advertising industry. Moreover, there are also awards for the Best Paper presented, which is adjudged by various industry personalities.

We are constantly on the lookout for fresh and credible papers and we invite you to submit your study at next year's seminar in 2005. So be a part of the fruit of MR labour! For tickets and other information, contact us.

MR Symposium:

Concerned with making Market Research relevant to your business, the MR Symposium is the Society's attempt to generate awareness of market research tools and techniques, typically among light to medium users of MR.

Last year, the inaugural MR Symposium 2003 addressed burning issues in business innovation. Essentially following an 'expo' format and positioned as providing business solutions through the 'Innovation Toolkit', the Symposium saw potential research buyers interacting with agency heads and team members.

This year, the MR Symposium will be focusing on the research needs of the financial services industry and will be geared to address its vital issues. Financial MR-centric presentations will be made by leading market research agencies followed by a one-on-one interaction with potential financial research buyers. Come, be a part of this event. For tickets and other information, contact us.

Guidelines and Codes of Conduct

A staunch advocate of ethical research practices, MRSI has laid down its own guidelines, which are expected to be adhered to by its members. These Codes of Conduct and Guidelines have been drafted in order to propagate the fair practice of Market Research in India and to protect respondents and agencies alike. Furthermore, the MRSI is involved in developing policies which affect the industry including privacy issues and guidelines for publishing research results.

Special Projects

In addition to the above activities, the MRSI also conducts research of its own. The Society has carried out the revolutionary Socio Economic Classification (SEC) study, which has transformed the collection, analysis and presentation of research data in India. This SEC system classifies households based on education and occupation of the Chief Wage Earner (CWE).

Moreover, the MRSI is also a proactive and forward thinking society. MR, as an industry, has been associated with slow, albeit steady growth. This, therefore, prompted the MRSI to conduct the "Triggers and Barriers to the Use Of Market Research" study in order to further understand what hampered the consistent and committed usage of market research, which has lead to many actionable points.
